Affectionately called Joseph by his friends, Mohammad Yousuf Chapri will superintend your tour, providing a relish of the famous Kashmiri hospitality!

NEI paterfamilias Yousuf Chapri is known for his inimitable working style done with characteristic pizzazz. Santa Claus-like, he is always ready with a treat for children, and is as popular with them as he is with his peers.

Yousuf Chapri is a ‘veritable veteran of the Vale’; he has explored many new routes in Ladakh and Kashmir through his illustrious career. A seasoned Himalayan explorer with more than 250 treks under his belt (it shows, and how), he has worked with the world-renowned ornithologist Dr. Robert Fleming, and botanist Dr. Oleg Polunin. At 66 he continues to inspire the younger generation adding another feather in his cap by leading the “Silk Route Expedition” from Wagah border to the Valley of Kashmir in 2007. As the chairman of the Dal Lake Protection Union he is also a crusader for environmental justice!
